Hearing in Hindu marriage registration held
LAHORE : Swift Implementation of the Hindu Marriage Act, 2017, in Punjab a hearing was held in the non-registration of Hindu Marriages under the Hindu Marriage Act, 2017 by Nadeem Ashraf, Member (Punjab), National Commission for Human Rights.
The hearing was attended by the relevant departments. Sajid Bashir, Additional Secretary, Local Government & Community Development Department and Ms Ayesha Yasin, Deputy Secretary, Human Rights & Minority Affairs Department attended the hearing.
Ayesha Yasin stated that the rules regarding the solemnisation of marriage are being formulated by the department and are in the final phase of completion.
Following this, the registration of Hindu Marriage will start taking place. Nadeem Ashraf, Member (Punjab) directed that both the rules for the solemnisation and registration of Hindu Marriages should be finalised by the end of February to provide this fundamental right of marriage/divorce registration to the Hindu Community in Punjab.
