NOWSHERA: Terming former chief minister Pervez Khattak an opportunist and self-seeker, Awami National Party leader and former minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain said on Saturday that the chairman of newly formed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-Parliamentarians (PTIP) had always left his benefactors in the lurch and even stabbed them in the back.

“This is the social media era and everything is on record when Pervez Khattak used to heap praise on former prime minister Imran Khan in the recent past,” he said while addressing gatherings as part of election campaigns at various places in the district.

The nationalist leader said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder first made Pervez Khattak chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and then federal defence minister besides electing his near and dear ones lawmakers and ministers and showering undue favours on him but now he was criticizing him relentlessly. He said that the PTIP chief had now become a staunch critic of the PTI chief and held him responsible for all the mess.

“Pervez Khattak repeatedly declares himself the chief minister of KP despite the fact he even has no candidates to award them party tickets in most of the constituencies in the province,” Mian Iftikhar said, adding that the claims of PTI deserter showed there was something black in the bottom.

He said that there was no political party left that Pervez Khattak had not joined and then quit after enjoying the luxuries of their governments.

He said that the ANP would launch a strong protest movement if the forthcoming elections were rigged.
