Fata teachers close schools over service structure
JAMRUD: Following boycott of classes, the All Fata Teachers Association on Friday started second phase of the protest drive by closing educational institutions. The protesting teachers have also moved to Islamabad for a grand sit-in to press the government to accept their demand for service structure and scale promotion. The Fata teachers have been demanding service structure and scale promotion as is given to teachers of the settled districts.
“We started our protest by boycotting classes but nobody bothered to listen to our grievances; this is why we shut down schools now,” stated a senior teacher, Nizamuddin Afridi. On the other hand, students of government schools have complained that first their education was affected by terrorism and now they were suffering due to the teachers’ protests. Parents of the students have also appealed to the government to accept the demands of teachers so that precious time of students is not wasted.
