Two terrorists killed in Bannu operation

BANNU: The law-enforcement agencies killed two terrorists in a joint overnight operation here, officials said on Thursday.

The operation was carried out by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and the Bannu Police.

The station house officer (SHO) of the Mandan Police Station, SHO of the SWAT CTD team and Quick Response Force personnel took part in the operation.

The unidentified terrorists opened fire on the police when law-enforcers reached Lora Nala, the officials said, adding, the cops returned the fire and the exchange of fire lasted for 15 minutes.

The encounter left two terrorists dead and six accomplices of the terrorists escaped in the dead of night, they added.

The police seized a Kalashnikov, pistol, hand grenades and other ammunition from the spot.

The officials said that the slain terrorists were wanted by the Bannu Police for attacking police stations, security check-posts and were involved in other terrorist activities as well. Deputy Inspector General of Police Qasim Ali Khan appreciated the cops for the action.
