MANSEHRA: An engineer and two steel fixers working on the Dasu Hydropower Project were killed and 11 labourers injured when a van plunged into a ravine in Upper Kohistan on Wednesday.
“Three persons were killed, 11 others injured in the accident. The bodies and injured have been shifted to a nearby health facility,” Abdul Rehman, an official of Rescue 1122, told reporters. The vehicle carrying 14 labourers and other staff of the Project was on way back to Ichar Nullah residential camp after night shift when the driver lost control over steering as a result of which it skidded off the road and plunged into the ravine. “The vehicle suddenly developed a technical fault and it went out of the driver’s control and met with the fatal accident,” Rehman said. He said the injured were shifted to the Civil Hospital in Dasu where doctors pronounced M Arsalan, an engineer of Nowshera, and steel fixers M Zaid Dar and Ghufranullah of Allai Battagram dead. The injured identified as M Ahsan, Ghulam Sher, Ayaz Khan, Naz Mohammad, Amir Khan, Waleed Khan, Assadullah, Rafiullah, Taus Khan, Mohammad Azmat and Mumtaz Khan were referred to the Ayub Medical Complex Hospital Abbottabad after emergency treatment at the civil hospital.
