The PMLN ex-MNA Rana Mehmoodul Hassan is contesting on PPP ticket from NA-150 Multan-III. Talking to journalists at a breakfast reception hosted by ex-MPA Dr Javed Siddiqui, former premier Syed Yusuf Raza Gillani asked all the PPP chapters to support Rana Mehmoodul Hassan and work for his victory with heavy margin.

Gillani said that PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s meeting at Multan Qasimpur Colony Ground will be a source of strength for the PPP where he (Bilawal) will address the meeting at 1:00 on Friday (January 26).

Bilawal will present the party manifesto to inform people about his ten point agenda. Gillani said that no political party has made as many sacrifices as the PPP has made in the public and democratic struggle, but the leadership of the PPP has sacrificed their precious lives in imprisonment and exile. The PPP workers also committed self-immolation, flogged themselves, and how many workers were martyred but they did not hesitate to make any kind of sacrifice for the stability of democracy.

He said while today Pakistan’s invincibility is also due to Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto’s nuclear programme and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto’s missile technology programmes, today no enemy power can look at Pakistan with a soft eye, he said.

Responding to queries Gilani added that the establishment of a separate province of South Punjab is part of the manifesto of the PPP and they had presented the resolution for the establishment of a separate province during their tenure. The Upper House also got approval from the Senate and the National Assembly, but unfortunately, the establishment of a separate province was not possible due to the non-support of the provincial government of Punjab. Responding to another query Gillani said that had the provincial government of Punjab supported them, then a separate province would have been formed? He added that from today, the campaign of the nominated candidates of PPP has been started from within the city.
