Naqvi seeks US help in boosting wheat yield

LAHORE:US Consul General Ms Kristin K Hawkins called on the chief minister at his office. She praised the CM for his people-friendly initiatives. She commended Naqvi for being an extremely dynamic and hardworking chief minister, noting that everyone appreciates his efforts. Under the leadership of Mohsin Naqvi, the provincial caretaker government has effectively served the people.

Mohsin Naqvi expressed interest in benefiting from American expertise, particularly in increasing wheat production in agriculture. He expressed a desire to affiliate Punjab's educational institutions with the University of California, to enhance the construction of small houses in Punjab, inspired by the California model. The CM also highlighted the smog challenge, emphasising the importance of identifying its causes. Every effort was made in a short period to serve the people effectively, he added. The US Consul General expressed readiness to collaborate with Punjab in the fields of education and commerce. She expressed desire to further promote bilateral cooperation under the California-Punjab Sister States relationship agreement. The meeting involved discussions on enhancing mutual relations and cooperation in various sectors. Provincial Ministers SM Tanvir, Amir Mir, chairman P&D and others were also present.

Inspects upgradation of Children’s Hospital, LGH

The chief minister has ordered completing the upgradation work of emergency and wards of Children’s Hospital Lahore without delay to ensure its opening next week.

While inspecting the hospital's different sections, he commended the renovation quality of counters, wards and directed to improve the front portion of the emergency.

He instructed the installation of aesthetically pleasing paintings on the walls of the wards for the young patients. Expressing dissatisfaction with the sluggish progress of the upgradation work at the emergency block of Lahore General Hospital (LGH), the CM voiced concern over the inadequate labour force.

He ordered an increase in the number of labourers to expedite the pace of work.

The CM expressed optimism that the upgradation of hospitals would be concluded promptly, ushering in improved healthcare facilities for the benefit of the patients.

Announces accelerating Safari Zoo's upgrade

The chief minister announced accelerating the Safari Zoo's upgrade, introducing sharks, new animals, and birds. During a comprehensive visit to the Safari Zoo, the CM inspected ongoing upgrade work throughout the park. Inspecting the construction of the information centre and designated areas for tigers, birds, and other animals, the CM directed the swift completion of the waterfall and associated tasks. He also examined the in-progress salt range and emphasised making the Safari Zoo Park entrance attractive and world-class. The CM revealed plans to launch a Night Safari at the park, ensuring international security standards.

Addressing the media post-visit, Mohsin Naqvi expressed dedication to overcoming challenges through relentless efforts. He stressed the importance of on-site visits for prompt decision-making, work acceleration, and worker motivation.

He clarified that his frequent visits aimed to expedite the project, transforming a year-long timeline into just three months. Discussing project progress, Naqvi indicated that many projects are nearing completion, with some at 80% or 90%. He aimed to conclude most projects by the end of January to early February.

Meanwhile, the chief minister intensified efforts to ensure the timely completion of the ‘Controlled Access Corridor Band Road Project’. He inspected the project, spanning 8 kilometres. Assessing various locations, he noted that 55% of Package 2 (Babu Sabu to Saggian) and 74% of Package One (Saggian to Niazi Chowk) have been successfully executed.
