Five dead, 16 injured in Dir accident
DIR: An accident in the Badalai area of Upper Dir district on Monday resulted in the death of five people and injuries to 16 others.
The incident involved a double-cabin car that fell into a deep ravine.Local sources and police officials said that the accident took place as a wedding party’s double-cabin vehicle was traveling from Sundrai to Badalai. The driver lost control near the wedding house, leading to the tragic incident.
Aftab Khan, a resident, confirmed the details by phone, stating that the car, part of a wedding procession, met the accident due to over-speeding.The vehicle reversed a few feet away from the wedding venue and plunged into a deep ravine, resulting in the immediate loss of three lives, including the driver and two minors. Eighteen others sustained injuries on the spot, and two of them succumbed to their injuries later in a local hospital.
The deceased were identified as driver Ali Hazrat Ali, Muhammad, Robina, and two other unidentified individuals from the Badalai area of Nehag Darra.Sources said that many of the injured and deceased individuals were from the same family.
Those injured, including Javeria, Gulalai, Marwah, Huzifa, Suman, Noreena, Masroor, Farooq, Roshni, Abu Bakar, Abu Zar, and others, were taken to DHQ Timergara and Wari hospitals for medical attention.The police registered a case and initiated an investigation into the accident.
