Child killed as dud shell goes off

NOWSHERA: A child was killed and two women sustained serious injuries when a dud mortar shell exploded inside a house in Amangarh area on Saturday.

Naila, a resident of Amangarh, told the police that her son Ahmad Umar, 5, had brought a shell home. She said that he was breaking the shell when all of a sudden it exploded with a big bang.

As a result, Ahmad was killed on the spot while Naila and her sister-in-law Shahida sustained serious injuries.

Upon receiving information, the Rescue 1122 rushed to the spot and shifted the body and injured to the Qazi Hussain Ahmad Medical Complex.

Meanwhile, an accused shot dead a man, who had come to court for hearing in case was shot dead by his companion Safdar outside the district judiciary.

The police arrested the accused Zarshad along with the weapon used in the crime.
