HARIPUR: To promote environmental awareness and civic responsibility, the students of the Department of Biology of University of Haripur (UoH) on Friday conducted a cleanliness drive around the Khanpur reservoir.
The chairman of the Department, Prof. Dr. Azizullah, led the initiative while the faculty members Dr. Saleha Ishfaq, Dr. Kamran, Dr. Asmaul Husna, Dr Shahid Ali Shah, Dr M. Israr, Dr Wajeeha Saeed, Miss Kanza participated in the day-long activity with the students.
Aimed at addressing the increasing environmental concerns and pollution at Khanpur dam, the drive witnessed an enthusiastic participation of students who demonstrated their commitment to maintaining cleanliness and preserving the natural beauty of the picnic spot.
Motivating the tourists for proper waste management, the students and faculty members also installed waste-bins at different frequently accessed points on the bank of the reservoir and demonstrated by collecting and disposing solid waste.
Speaking on the occasion, University of HaripurVice Chancellor Prof Dr Shafiqur Rehman lauded the efforts of students and the teaching staff and added that the activity would bring a substantially positive impact on the environment protection as the cleanliness around the naturally developed picnic spots has always been a matter of concern for nature loving communities.
