NOWSHERA: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-Parliamentarians (PTIP) Chairman Pervez Khattak on Friday accused PTI founder Imran Khan of deceiving the youth in the name of a change.

“The country will have a bright future sans Imran Khan as his past rule caused enormous loss to Pakistan,” he said while addressing public meetings at Pir Pai town and Dheri Kattikhel on Friday.

The PTIP chief said that Imran Khan followed confrontational policies when he was the prime minister and encouraged the young generation to rise against the state institutions. He said he had advised the then prime minister to avoid such policies but his advice was never paid any heed. “The May 9 incidents, last year exposed the agenda of Imran Khan,” he said while referring to the countrywide violence triggered after the arrest of the former prime minister.

Pervez Khattak said Imran Khan had the option to go for elections but he (the PTI founder) chose the path of collision. The PTIP chief said he launched a number of mega development projects in KP when he was the chief minister from 2013 to 2018. “ Later, Mahmood Khan served the people of KP,” he added.

Pervez Khattak said the good governance practiced by him in the province strengthened the party in the province. “ I launched the Bus Rapid Transit Project, set up special economic zones and introduced the free treatment schemes under the Sehat Sahulat Card,” he pointed out while enumerating his development initiatives.

He came down hard on other political parties and accused them of doing nothing when they were provided opportunities in the past and elected to power. “The Pakistan People’s Party raised the slogan of Roti, Kapra Aur Makaan, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl tried to attract voters by fanning religious sentiments and Awami National Party played the nationalistic politics card,” he said and requested the people to be aware of these tactics and choose sincere people in the upcoming general elections. Pervez Khattak asked the people to vote for the PTIP candidates in the February 8 General Elections as he wanted to serve the province again.
