Governor issues multiple orders on varsity summaries

Punjab Governor said that the main purpose of these nominations is the promotion of knowledge and research in universities

LAHORE: Punjab Governor M Balighur Rehman as Chancellor has issued orders on various summaries of different universities on Wednesday.

Punjab Governor nominated M Nawaz Sharif University of Engineering and Technology Multan Vice Chancellor Prof Dr M Kamran as member of the Syndicate Govt Sadiq College Women University and Sargodha University for a period of three years.

Pharmaceutical and Allied Sciences of Lahore College for Women University Dean Faculty Prof Humaira Majeed Khan was nominated as a member of the Syndicate of Lahore College for Women University for a period of three years.

The governor assigned the additional charge of the post of Vice Chancellor University of Okara to Sahiwal University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Javed Akhtar for a period of 6 months. He also approved the service status of the employees of University of Child Health Sciences.

Speaking on this occasion, Punjab Governor said that the main purpose of these nominations is the promotion of knowledge and research in universities of the province. He said that the development of the country and the nation is related to the promotion of higher education. He said that consortiums have been formed in seven important fields in the universities.

The governor said that special attention is being paid to strengthening the links between industry and academia so that industries can benefit from the research done in universities. He said that character building is an important aspect, adding that along with imparting different skills and education to students in educational institutions, special attention should be paid to the character building of the students. He said that special instructions have been given to all the vice chancellors in this regard.
