Three injured in house fire

Fire-fighters reached the spot on information, evacuated the victims and extinguished the fire

LAHORE:Three members of a family were injured when a fire broke out due to a gas heater in a house in the Sherakot area.

Reportedly, the fire broke out due to gas heater in a house in Jafria Colony, Bund Road. It engulfed the whole house. As a result, three children were trapped inside it. Nearby people tried to control the fire and also called rescue teams.

Fire-fighters reached the spot on information, evacuated the victims and extinguished the fire. The victims were shifted to Lahore Jinnah Hospital. They were identified as Irzana Omar 18, Omar Altaf, 37, and Zainab Omar, 10. In another incident reported in DHA phase 5, a security guard trying to lit fire in woods was injured. The victim sprinkled petrol on wood to fight cold during his duty at Wateen Chowk. As he set it on fire, the victim himself also fell a victim to it.

26 members of four gangs arrested

Organised Crime Unit (OCU) Cantonment has arrested 26 members of four gangs. The arrested suspects were also involved in robbery worth over Rs15 million from the house of grandson of a former chief justice. The arrested suspects included Shakeel, Shazia, M Saif, Awais, Shahzad, Siddique Maseeh, Raheel Maseeh, Azmat Maseeh, Yashfa Maseeh, Haider Ali, Shahbaz, Khanook, Asif Khan, Nauman Ghous, Basharat Ali and Shahzad Nawaz. Meanwhile, Guldasht Town Police post arrested two members of a bike lifting gang. The arrested suspects were identified as Tayyab and Rashid. Police also recovered six bikes, four mobile phones, two pistols.

20 die in road accidents

Around 20 people died, whereas 1,088 were injured in 998 road traffic accidents in all districts during the last 24 hours. Out of these, 490 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 598 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by Rescue medical teams.
