Nawaz, experts discuss ways to lower power, gas rates

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) Quaid, Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, held a consultative session with economic experts to address and rectify the economic challenges facing the country, including measures for reduction in prices of electricity and gas
The meeting finalised its economic reforms after discussing various proposals to solve country’s economic problems.
Former prime minister and PMLN President Shehbaz Sharif was also present. The meeting finalised the party plan for economic recovery of the country, saving people from inflation, increasing the growth rate, bringing about tax reforms and ending the energy crisis.
Incentive packages for agriculture, industry, IT development were prepared and policy points were formulated for providing employment and skills to the youth.
The meeting also discussed provision of solar energy at special discounted rates for agricultural purposes, major concessions in electricity supply to domestic consumers were also included in the package.
Major projects for education, health and infrastructure were also prioritised. It was agreed that step-by-step increase in overall economic activities would be made to accelerate national development.
The economic plan was decided in the light of the suggestions of experts from various fields under which reforms would also be laid down for reduction in interest rate, establishing large-scale industries and facilitating the export sector.
Meanwhile, a delegation of the National Party met former prime minister and PMLN Quaid Nawaz Sharif here on Monday.
The NP six-member delegation was led by party President Dr Abdul Malik Baloch. Former prime minister and PMLN President Shehbaz Sharif, PMLN Balochistan President Jafar Khan Mandokhel, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and Maryam Aurangzeb were present. The NP delegation included Mir Kabir, Sardar Kamil, Jan Muhammad, Tahir Bizenjo and Ayub Malik. Nawaz paid tribute to the late Mir Hasil Khan Bizenjo for his services to the country, nation and democracy. Baloch congratulated Nawaz on his acquittal.
The overall situation of the country and political cooperation regarding the general elections on February 8 were discussed. Baloch appreciated the vision and efforts of Nawaz for the development of the country, especially Balochistan. The leaders agreed to work together for Pakistan and enhance political cooperation.
