Man kills his mother, injures brother
LAHORE : A man shot dead his mother and injured his brother near Wazir Khan Mosque in Akbari Gate police area on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Shabana Bibi, wife of Babar of Faisal Town. The accused Sabat Hassan came to know that her mother along with her family members including her son Zohaib Butt had come to her native home in Akbari Gate to attend a wedding function. The suspect approached her mother near mosque and opened fire. As a result, she died on the spot and her son Zohaib sustained bullet wounds. The accused managed to escape from the spot. The injured Zohaib was admitted to a hospital and the body of his mother was shifted to the morgue.
1,642,480 persons checked in 2023
At least 1,642,480 persons, 142,715 vehicles and 90,261 motorcycles were checked at the entry and exit gates of the city during the year 2023.
Legal action was taken against 4,812 persons during checking at pickets. Black paper was removed from 15,601 vehicles while blue lights were removed from 47 vehicles. Similarly, 82 cases of illegal weapons were registered during checking. Around 3,479 target offenders, 624 court absconders and 873 proclaimed offenders were arrested on checking the records at the checkpoints.
IG visits Khidmat Markaz
IG Punjab visited the under construction Police Khidmat Markaz at Shadman police station late night and reviewed the construction work. He said that the new state-of-the-art building of Police Khidmat Markaz Shadman will be completed by January 31. He instructed to complete the construction work in all circumstances within the stipulated time period.
7 cell phone snatchers arrested
Organised Crime Unit Cantt arrested seven cell phone snatchers. The police also recovered cell phones and illegal arms from the possession of the accused identified as Shahbaz, Shahzad, Haider, Sonu, Asif, Noman and Busharat. Meanwhile, Manawan police arrested a drug pusher Mudassar and recovered 1kg ice from his possession.
Two robbers arrested
Police arrested two robbers in injured condition in Nawab Town police area on Saturday.
Police said that the accused identified as Sajjad and Pervez were injured by the firing of their accomplices. The accused were involved in dozens of incidents like robbery, kidnapping for ransom and illegal weapons.
