Inter student killed, father wounded for resisting mugging bid
A student of Intermediate was killed and his father wounded in the late hours of Thursday for offering resistance during a mugging bid in the Surjani Town area.
Armed assailants attempted to rob the student and his father while they were riding a motorcycle. Upon resistance, the bandits opened fire on them leaving both severely injured. Police and rescue workers reached the scene and transported the casualties to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where 17-year-old Faiz Muhammad, who had suffered a gunshot wound in the head, succumbed to his injuries while his father Fatah Muhammad, 50, remained admitted to the hospital.
According to the ill-fated father, he and his son were residents of Bath Island in Clifton and were going to Surjani for a wedding ceremony late on Thursday night when the tragic incident occurred.
The family and police said the deceased teenager was a student of Intermediate first year. His family hailed from Umerkot. The funeral prayers were offered at his ancestral village. Police said they had registered a case and investigations were under way.
