KHAR: The death toll from the Bajaur bomb blast rose to eight as another cop succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in Peshawar on Thursday.
Constable Ameer Zada was under treatment at the Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar for his severe injuries inflicted by the massive improvised explosive device (IED) explosion on Monday.However, the cop succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
Later, the body of the martyred cop was taken to his native town after the funeral prayer offered at the Police Lines with state honours.
Initially the blast had claimed the lives of five cops and left 28 others wounded. Some of the
injured were taken to the hospitals in Peshawar due to their precarious condition.
However, three injured cops named Imran Khan, Wali and now Ameer Zada succumbed to their wounds at hospital in Peshawar, taking the death toll to eight.
The van carrying cops was on its way to the field to deploy the personnel for the security of the anti-polio drive when the vehicle was targetted with an improvised explosive device (IED) planted along the roadside.The van was also badly damaged in the explosion.
