IGP lays foundation of transgender children school
LAHORE:Taking a historic step, Punjab Police laid the foundation stone of ‘Tahaffuz Darsgah’ for transgender children in Jallo area with the collaboration of a private welfare organisation.
The school ‘Tahaffuz Darsgah’ is being built on four kanals of land. IG Punjab Dr Usman Anwar laid the foundation stone along with the chairman of British organisation UK Curriculum & Accreditation Body Zahid Bhatti. The members of British organisation - Nabil Amir, Abdullah Mushtaq and Asad Ali Malik and some transgender were also present on this occasion.
IG Punjab said that collective measures will be taken for the education and training of transgender children aged 5 to 18 years. Transgender children will be taught various skills to improve the quality of life, along with provision of the best education at the primary level. Punjab Police has provided land for the establishment of transgender school from the platform of Tahaffuz Markaz.
PITB team calls on IG
A delegation led by PITB Chairman Faisal Yousuf called on IG Punjab at the Central Police Office on Thursday. During the meeting, IG Punjab and Chairman PITB also signed an MOU to fully digitise the working of Punjab Police Welfare Branch. IG Punjab said that the welfare regime and internal working of Punjab Police have been completely digitised. Various official tasks that took months and weeks will now be completed in days and hours hence, it will save expenses.
Inspects uplift projects
IGP Dr Usman Anwar visited various police stations, inspected development projects and issued instructions.He visited Qurban Police Lines, Central Police Office and inspected the under construction residential apartments. IG Punjab directed to complete the construction work of the apartments as soon as possible.
He also visited the first Integrated Saiban Centre of Punjab Police at Police Station Gulberg, new driving licencing centres at the Gaddafi Stadium and reviewed the issuance of licences. He also visited Police Stations Gulberg, Ichhra and Township and reviewed the working of Special Initiative Police Stations.
Traffic cop awarded
A Traffic Police Inspector Shahid Masih called on IGP at the Central Police Office.Faisalabad Traffic Police Inspector Shahid Masih is an artist with great talent in oil painting, pencil work, glass painting, calligraphy and other genres of painting. He presented a gift of two specially prepared artworks to IG Punjab. Dr Usman Anwar praised the talent of the cop and gave a certificate of appreciation and cash reward.
