Four ECP officials die of suffocation in Kandhkot

The four were Mushtaq Ahmad Magsi, Ghulam Fareed, Abdul Rauf and Majid Hussain

SUKKUR: Four Election Commission of Pakistan employees lost their lives due to suffocation after their room in the District Complex, Kandhkot, was filled with gas on Wednesday.

The four were Mushtaq Ahmad Magsi, Ghulam Fareed, Abdul Rauf and Majid Hussain. Rescue sources said the four were sleeping when gas filled their room, adding that three of them belonged to Larkana and one to Kandhkot. Rescue officials shifted the bodies to hospital. Chief Secretary Sindh Dr Muhammad Fakhr Alam has taken notice of the deaths and asked the commissioner Larkana and DIG Larkana to submit reports. He expressed grief over the deaths. Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja and ECP officials have also expressed sadness over the incident. According to the ECP spokesperson, the four employees — an election officer, two data entry operators and a sub-assistant — lost their lives. The CEC has ordered an investigation into the incident.
