I was sure Mazahar Naqvi will resign: lawyer Dawood
“I collected the information on my own”, he said, adding doubt turned into belief after investigating Justice Naqvi’s assets
LAHORE: Lawyer of the Lahore High Court Mian Dawood said Wednesday he was sure Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi would resign if the reference against him in the Supreme Judicial Council was fixed for regular hearing.
He said the audio of Justice Naqvi’s conversation with Pervaiz Elahi (former Punjab CM) had leaked. After that, truck was mentioned in the audio of Fawad Chaudhry, he said.
“I collected the information on my own”, he said, adding doubt turned into belief after investigating Justice Naqvi’s assets.
He said he found the attitude of the judge very rude and arrogant towards lawyers. “After that, I decided to approach the competent platform, Supreme Judicial Council.”
When asked about the bad results of filing a reference, Mian Dawood said, “One who commits corruption gets frightened.” He said he believed the judiciary was a sacred cow, but it should never be exempted from accountability. When asked why he advocated for Muhammad Naveed, the accused who carried out attack on Imran Khan, he said the purpose of taking up the case was to help the client get his legal rights.
