LAHORE:Two brothers were gunned down by their former brother-in-law and his accomplices in the limits of Hanjarwal police on Wednesday.

The victims were identified as Muzamil Ali, 20, and Mudassar, 17, residents of Ittehad Colony, Hanjarwal. The accused Fahad Gujjar married the victims’ sister three months ago. The victims brought their sister back to their home after a dispute between their sister and her husband a few days back. Meanwhile, their sister obtained khula through the court, on which the accused Fahad nursed a grudge against his brother-in-laws. On the day of the incident, the victims Muzamil and Mudassar were sitting at their general store along with their father when the accused Fahad Gujjar reached along with his accomplices and opened fire, resulting in the death of Muzamil and Mudassar. The accused escaped from the scene. The bodies were shifted to the morgue and a murder case was registered on the complaint of the victims’ father.

Three robbers arrested

Three robbers were arrested from different parts of the City on Wednesday. Gujjarpura police arrested a robber who was injured by the firing of his accomplice. The injured robber was identified as Rehman Afzal. Dolphin police team arrested a robber in an injured state in Mughalpura police area. The robber was identified as Hasan Raza. Defence C police arrested a robber who was later identified as Haider Ali.

Woman burnt to death

A woman mysteriously died of burns after her clothes caught fire in the limits of Factory Area on Wednesday. The police started investigation by detaining the woman's husband Raja Nazir and a stepson. The complainant said that the victim was the second wife of Raja Nazir and used to torture his sister. On the other hand, the accused claimed that the victim was preparing tea when her clothes accidentally caught fire. The police said that when they reached the spot, the room was ablaze instead of the kitchen. Circumstantial evidence contradicted the statement of the suspects.
