FIA action against human trafficking continues

LAHORE: Under the direction of Director FIA Multan Zone Khalid Anees, a crackdown on people involved in human trafficking continued on Tuesday.

A raiding operation under the supervision of Deputy Director Multan Circle Khawaja Hamadur Rehman took place and a human-trafficker was arrested. Accused Abdul Rauf was arrested from Mandi Bahauddin. He was involved in extorting lakhs of rupees from citizens under the guise of foreign study visas. The accused grabbed 15 lakh 75 thousand rupees to send citizens to Australia. The accused went into hiding after receiving money from the citizens. He was wanted by the FIA for the last three years.

The FIA spokesperson said all resources were being used to arrest people involved in human trafficking. Special raid teams have been formed to arrest proclaimed offenders. Suspects involved in Hawala Hundi have been arrested in Peshawar. On the direction of Director Peshawar Zone Nisar Tanoli, a crackdown continued on people involved in Hundi and illegal currency exchange and two accused were arrested. During a raid, currency worth crores of rupees was recovered from the accused Anwar Shah and Owais Khan. They were arrested from the Sadr area of Peshawar. A total of one crore 69 lakh rupees was recovered from the accused. The accused were doing currency exchange business without licence. Records related to Hundi references were also recovered from the accused. The accused could not satisfy authorities regarding the recovered currency.
