CM directs officials to resolve issues of Abbottabad
PESHAWAR: Caretaker Chief Minister Justice (R) Syed Arshad Hussain Shah on Monday directed the officials concerned to address the issues facing divisional headquarters Abbottabad.
A handout said that he chaired the meeting from Islamabad via a video link. It was decided in the meeting to convene a special meeting of the high-ups of National Highways Authority to address the issues related to the Hazara Motorway.
Caretaker provincial ministers Ahmed Jan, Aamir Nadeem Durrani and spokesperson to Chief Minister Brigadier (R) Syed Mujtaba Tirmizi, Additional Chief Secretary Syed Imtiaz Hussain Shah, administrative secretaries of the departments concerned, commissioner Hazara Division, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Hazara and others attended the meeting. The meeting discussed issues being faced by the people and reviewed implementation status of the directives issued by the chief minister during his recent visit to Abbottabad. Briefing the participants, it was informed that RPO Hazara and District Police officers were visiting police stations, whereas multiple measures including police patrolling were being undertaken to ensure the protection of passengers on the Karakoram Highway.
The chief minister 0expressed concern over delay in implementation of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cities Improvement Project and decided to hold a meeting of all the authorities this week to settle down the matters related to this project further.
The meeting decided to devise a strategy for the disposal of floodwater with the aim to protect Abbottabad city from floods and rainwater. The chief minister directed the authorities to take steps to ensure visible progress on Abbottabad Water Supply Scheme.
The authorities were directed to take steps for providing the required funds for shifting utilities from the under-construction Thandiani Road and make progress on the construction of Qalandarabad Bypass and other road projects.
The Excise and Police departments were directed to have a joint strategy to effectively prevent the inter-district smuggling of narcotics and to take action against the actual sources of narcotics in the province.
The TMOs and other relevant authorities were directed to take action against encroachers in Abbottabad city. The authorities were directed to post anesthesia specialists at Ayub Teaching Hospital and District Headquarters Hospital Abbottabad. It was decided to hold a separate meeting addressing the issues related to Khana-e-Kasht and Khana-e-Milkiyat in Hazara region.
