In denial
This letter refers to the news story ‘Has Imran changed his view about army, its chief?’ (January 5, 2024). It is strange that the PTI’s information secretary got upset when asked about what Imran Khan now thinks of his past allegations against the establishment and accused the correspondent of being prejudiced against the PTI.
The correspondent was merely mentioning the facts. How can restating the facts be an indication of prejudice? Even outside Pakistan, we repeatedly heard and read about Imran’s views against certain institutions and officials. Creating a smokescreen has never worked in the long run for anyone throughout history.
Things which are said or done can never be reversed. Rather than denying the facts, people should accept their past actions and, if they feel they were wrong, they should apologize. If they feel they were correct, then they should defend what they said. One cannot simply deny what happened before.
