LAHORE/ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal-Bhutto Zardari Thursday launched his election campaign here and vowed to break ‘mafia’ network of the ruling elite after coming to power.

Moreover, three-time MPA of PMLN from Lahore and former provincialminister Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor Mayo, who also spent a few years with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), announced joining the PPP. Besides, a PMLN stalwart from Sargodha, Yar Muhammad Lak, also announced joining the party after meeting Bilawal-Bhutto Zardari.

Addressing the party workers after opening an election office in Green Town (NA-127 Lahore), the PPP chairman termed workers the real strength of party and urged them go door-to-door as his ambassadors to convey PPP’s message and its 10-point agenda to citizens.

Addressing a public gathering at the place of Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor Mayo, Bilawal welcomed him in the party fold. He said the PPP did not believe in politics of hatred and grudge, and urged the party workers to work strenuously for success of the party in the general election.

Bilawal said the PPP had a 10-point election agenda based on the objective of providing relief to people in sectors of health, education, energy as well as empowering the youth and alleviating poverty in the country.

Bilawal vowed to increase wages by 200 per cent, free solar electricity to the poor people up to 300 units, and free, quality education to students. He said the PPP was already providing these facilities to people of Sindh and would implement its agenda in the country after coming to power.

Mocking the PMLN leadership, Bilawal said they had to rush to London for heart issues treatment, but the PPP would establish a cardiology hospital in Raiwind to provide free treatment facilities to the Sharif family as well as the people of Raiwind.

Bilawal also promised property ownership rights to women, building three million housing units for the poor, regularising the katchi abadis [slums] and expanding the network of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP).

Separately, according to a PPP announcement, the party will celebrate the 96th birth anniversary of former prime minister and founder of PPP Zulfikar Ali Bhutto on Friday (today).

Former president and PPPP President Asif Ali Zardari would address a cake-cutting ceremony in Multan. He said in a statement on Thursday that the Quaid-e-Awam Zulfikar Bhutto gave a voice to the people who had been exploited for a long time. “He gave them the freedom to think, speak and live with dignity. By rebuilding the broken and devastated Pakistan, Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto gave the light of the Constitution to the nation,” he said.

PPP Chairman Bilawal-Bhutto Zardari said Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was not confined to being an individual or leader of a single party, rather he symbolised an ideology, propelled a movement, and stood as a moral figurehead for the nation.

Meanwhile, the PPP released its preliminary schedule of election campaign for February 8 elections, which said party Chairman Bilawal-Bhutto Zardari would hold more than 30 rallies in various cities of four provinces in the coming days.
