IJT activists stage sit-in
HARIPUR: The workers of Islami Jamiat-i-Talba (IJT) on Wednesday staged a sit-in outside the Pak Austria Fachhochschule Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology PAF IAST, Mang in protest against a musical show.
Heavy contingent of police was also deployed in and outside the university. The protesters, however, dispersed peacefully saying that the university administration has assured them of not organizing the musical show.
Speaking on the occasion, the protesters, who were carrying banners inscribed with anti-musical programme, said that they had approached the deputy commissioner and university administration with written complaint requesting them to cancel the musical show where some DJ was going to perform at a mixed gathering of female and male students on Wednesday evening.
They said that on one hand the caretaker government has cancelled the new year’s programmes and all kinds of celebrations in solidarity with Palestinians but organizing a musical programme by a university was against the religious and moral values and aimed at spreading obscenity.
