Dense fog forecast
LAHORE : Air Quality Index (AQI) of the provincial capital remained very unhealthy on Tuesday while Met office warned that dense fog will prevail over the plain areas of Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Upper Sindh and Islamabad during this week.
Met officials advised the citizens to be cautious and avoid unnecessary travelling during night hours on main highways. The City witnessed foggy weather and AQI was recorded as 247. Met officials said continental air was prevailing over most parts of the country while a shallow westerly wave was present over western Balochistan. They predicted that mainly cold and dry weather was expected in most parts of the country while very cold in northern parts and north Balochistan.
They added that fog/smog was likely to persist in plain areas of Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and upper Sindh while drizzle was likely at isolated places in southwestern Balochistan and coastal areas of Makran. Tuesday’s minimum temperature was recorded at Leh where mercury dropped to -11°C while in Lahore, it was 6.6°C and maximum was 11.5°C.
