Over 21,000 cops deployed for security on New Year

LAHORE : More than 21,000 police officers and officials were deployed for the new year security across the province.
The Inspector General Police (IGP) Punjab directed Dolphin Squad, Police Response Unit, Elite Force, Highway Patrol teams to increase patrolling on roads and highways.
He asked the cops to take prior surety bonds, set up check posts to combat one-wheeling, aerial firing, rioting, crimes on new year night and continuously monitor all activities through CCTV cameras. He asked the CCPO Lahore, RPOs and DPOs to monitor all arrangements personally to maintain the atmosphere of law and order. He asked all district traffic officers, including the CTO Lahore to depute additional personnel to maintain smooth traffic flow on roads.
