556 terrorists killed, 5,161 held in 18,736 IBOs during 2023

ISLAMABAD: The armed forces of Pakistan during the outgoing year of 2023, took effective measures for country’s defence, security and against terrorism in view of the situation of unrest in the region.

In this year, 18,736 Intelligence-Based Operations (IBOs) were carried out by the security forces across the country in which 566 terrorists were killed including the most wanted terrorists while 5161 terrorists were arrested, the military sources said.

Just two days before end of the year, the security forces killed five terrorists including their commander in Mir Ali area of North Waziristan on December 29.

Owing to the effective operations of intelligence agencies, Gulzar Imam Shambe and Sarfaraz Bengalzai, the most key commanders of the Baloch National Army rejoined the national mainstream.

In all 15063 IBOs were carried out in Balochistan in which 109 terrorists were killed.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 1940 IBOs were carried out in which 447 terrorists were gunned down.

Similarly, 190 IBOs were conducted in Punjab, 14 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 1987 in Sindh, killing 10 terrorists.

The armed forces of Pakistan, law enforcement agencies and people of the country also rendered matchless sacrifices in the war against terrorism.

More than 1,000 people, 260 officers and soldiers of the Pakistan Army sacrificed their lives for the sake of the country in terrorist attacks.

The armed forces of Pakistan have taken various steps to make the country a cradle of peace, and now it is hoped that there will be peace and stability in the time to come.

The armed forces of Pakistan have expressed their firm resolve to continue war against terrorism with the overwhelming support of the people till the elimination of last terrorist. The armed forces together with the other law enforcing agencies and with the support of people of Pakistan will continue the war against terrorism.
