Sindh launches digital system to ensure transparency, in public procurement

The Sindh government has launched a digital system for procurement to ensure transparency and efficiency.

Sindh Caretaker Chief Minister Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar inaugurated the E-Pak Acquisition and Disposal System (EPDS) on Friday at a local hotel.

The event was attended by Law Minister and Sindh Public Procurement Regulator Authority (SPPRA) Chairman Omar Soomro, Federal PPRA Director General (DG) Maqbool Gondal, SPPRA DG Zubair Parvez, SPPRA Director Shadiya Jaffer, and secretaries of various departments.

Speaking on the occasion, the CM remarked that the traditional procurement methods had their challenges that could hinder efficiency, increase costs and sometimes compromise transparency. He added that the Sindh government was launching an e-procurement system to address those challenges.

According to a statement issued by the government, the event showcased the commitment of the SPPRA to modernise public procurement practices, ensuring greater transparency, fairness, and competitiveness in the procurement landscape.

The e-procurement system has a user-friendly interface that simplifies the procurement process for both government entities and suppliers. The system also offers real-time monitoring and reporting, providing instant access to procurement data, bid status and project updates.

It facilitates secure and efficient management of procurement documents, reducing paperwork, minimising errors, and enhancing document traceability. The system also automates the entire bidding process, from announcement to bid submission and evaluation.
