Gillani criticises police for manhandling Qureshi
MULTAN: Former prime minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gillani has lambasted the abuse of Shah Mehmood Qureshi and other leaders by the police and administration and called it highly regrettable.
The Pakistan People's Party (PPP) has always fought against state oppression, he said in a statement issued here from Gillani House. He said they never believe in coercion and violence. If even after the bail of Shah Mahmood Qureshi was wanted by the police in another case, then the arrest should have been made while maintaining moral values. He demanded the administration take notice of this behavior with Shah Mehmood Qureshi.
Meanwhile, addressing an election gathering Gillani said that the performance of the PPP is in front of everyone. He said, “During my time, the amount of development work done in South Punjab including Multan has not been done in the last 70 years.” He expressed these ideas in his meeting with the dignitaries of the area and political and social leaders on the occasion of the arrival of his Constituency NA 148/Provincial Constituency PP-214 Neelkot Union Council.
On this occasion, PTI leaders Malik Nadeem Raza Thiham lumberdar, Yasin Langah, General Counselor, Abdul Rasheed Chandia along with Malik Ramzan Thahim's associates, announced joining the PPP by saying goodbye to PTI. They expressed full confidence in former provincial minister Syed Ali Haider Gillani and Malik Nadeem Raza Thehim lumberdar.
Yasin Langah, General Counselor, Abdul Rasheed Chandia and Malik Ramzan Tahim said that during Syed Yusuf Raza Gillani's regime, record development works were definitely done in Neelkot Union Council and due to projects like Head Muhammad Wala Bypass, not only residents of union council but people from far and wide were benefited. The passengers were also provided with the best travel facilities and employment opportunities. They said all of them are standing by the side of Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani, Syed Ali Haider Gilani on this occasion also announced to launch the election campaign of Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani and Syed Ali Haider Gilani.
He said that he was expecting the people to fully support them with their valuable votes in the upcoming elections and they will be elected as usual and they will truly adhere to the solution of their problems. He said that the PPP is the only people's democratic and political party which has taken revolutionary steps to end inflation, unemployment and solve the problems of the people.
It is worth mentioning here that large numbers of PPP workers and Gillani’s sons were brutally tortured and arrested in response to a PDM rally in Multan.
