PPP writes to ECP against Matiari SP’s transfer
ISLAMABAD: The incharge central election monitoring cell of the Pakistan People’s Party, Taj Haider has protested to the ECP for allowing the transfer of the Matiari superintendent of police and called for its cancellation. The PPP fears electoral rigging in the constituency citing ‘their history’ of 2018 elections in that constituency. Taj Haider in his letter to the Chief Election
Commissioner has said that the permission for reshuffling of senior police officers in Sindh violates section 230 (f) of the Election Act 2017. He said there was no obvious reason or any emergency or expediency which may have warranted the transfer of senior police officer.
Haider further informed the CEC about the former DG FIA, now the provincial president of PML-N Sindh against whom the PPP had complained in its report to the ECP of involvement in massive rigging in general election 2018. He said that the fresh posting of SP District Matiari is especially significant because it was in this district the ex-DG FIA while in uniform had used his influence to change the results.
Haider said it is obvious that the retired DG FIA, now the PML-N president, is using his old connections and influence to effect fresh illegal and unlawful postings. “The concurrence of the Election Commission to the illegal and unlawful request is simply not understood,” he said. He asked the ECP to review their permission letter and order its cancellation.
