Rehman Malik’s 11 questions on Panama papers

Islamabad: Former Interior Minister and Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Planning Development and Reform, Senator Rehman Malik released on Tuesday 11 questions for the people of Pakistan, the legal fraternity of the country and world as well. He requested intellectuals and media persons to generate a meaningful debate on the issue of Panama Leak and asked as to why the United Nations is totally silent on the violation of its own charter by its own member states.

“The issue is not an ordinary one that could be ignored but we need to have a deep look into it using different parameters,” he stated while releasing 11 questions on the Panama papers. 

Senator Abdul Rehman Malik said that very soon he would also hold a press conference on these important points/questions for public awareness, importance and interests. 

He has asked the people of Pakistan to play their important and valuable role in this regard.

Questions: 

1. Is the scene of occurrence of alleged crime not Panama?

2. Is it not international law that investigation has to start from the crime scene?

3. Is not Panama, where the leaks took place, itself not responsible for the scandal?

4. Are journalistic story and International investigations not two different dimensions as per UNO charter/Interpol HQ Lyon.

5. Is it not true that Interpol HQ can investigate such matters worldwide through its National Central Buerau (NCB/Local Interpol)?

6. Can a commission investigate without having any original and verified document on an alleged crime and who has to provide such original papers?

7. Can any body say NO to the investigation from International body like Interpol where all member states  including Pakistan contributes huge funds from the Pakistani taxpayers’ money?

8. Why is the world avoiding name of Interpol & investigation by Interpol into the Panama Leaks. Is there some fear? If yes then what are those fears?

9. Why is the United Nations totally silent on the violation of its own charter by its own member states?

10. Why has this global crime of Panama leaks surfaced at this point of time when the world is at war with ISIS and what is to be achieved through Panama leaks?

11. Why more details will surface in coming ten days? Who will sue Panama for violation of confidentiality in coming days and why?
