Transgender person commits suicide

SWABI: A transgender allegedly committed suicide and his dead body was recovered from his room here on Monday.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Jawad Khan said the deceased Qamar Zaman alias Divya lived along with other transgender persons in a Link Road market.He said the deceased was living in a separate room and allegedly took ice drugs (methamphetamine), remaining inside his room while sleeping for long hours.

The official said when he failed to come out of his room till noon, other inmates knocked repeatedly at the door but received no response. The other transgender persons informed the

police. The cops broke the door and entered the room. They found that Divya had ended her life by hanging with a ceiling fan. The police registered a case and launched an investigation.
