Tribal elder killed in Waziristan blast
WANA: A tribal elder was killed in Azam Warsak area in Lower South Waziristan district here on Monday, police sources said.
The sources said that the tribal elder identified as Akbar Jan was going home on a motorcycle when he was attacked with an improvised explosive device (IED) at the Azam Warsak area. He lost life on the spot.
The slain Akbar Jan was the son of late Malik Shireen Jan, who was a pro-government tribal elder.Many members of his family were targeted for opposing militancy and working for the restoration of peace in the region.
The late Malik Shireen Jan played an important role in expelling the Uzbak, Chechen and other foreign terrorists from the area.Malik Shireen was known as a figure who worked for the establishment of peace in the region.
