Residents concerned over high Sui gas bills

MANSEHRA: The people on Friday complained of the high natural gas utility bills and announced to move the Peshawar High Court (PHC) against it.

“We have decided to move the Peshawar High Court, and block Karakoram Highway to all sorts of traffic against inflated natural gas utility bills,” Datta village council chairman Assad Ali Shah told reporters.

Accompanied by a group of people, including local government representatives, he said that they were going to block Karakoram Highway near Datta against the inflated bills within a couple of days if the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Company didn’t withdraw the extra amount incorporated in bills. Assad Shah said that people were already reeling because of the country’s highest-ever inflation and it had become impossible for them to pay the bills. “Would you believe this month’s bills are almost five to six times higher as compared to the same month last year, and people cannot afford to pay it,” he added.
