CM approves Rs150 billion road projects
LAHORE:Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi has approved the 2,600km long road rehabilitation projects worth Rs150 billion in the province.
Under this programme, 104 roads will be revamped in different districts of the province according to the best quality. These projects were an indispensable need of the people as roads will not only ease the traffic but also ensure a smooth flow of traffic, the chief minister noted while chairing a meeting in this regard.
Secretary C&W Sohail Anwar expressed that the best completion of the 104 roads' revamping projects which were lying pending for a year, in less than a year’s duration, would be a record. A committee was monitoring the construction quality of roads in each district and division of the province, he added.
Meanwhile, nine road projects have already been completed while 33 highways were being constructed rapidly in different districts, which will be completed soon, he further said. The allocation of additional funds for 39 roads was under review and six projects were slated for completion under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP), he concluded.
The meeting was attended by Local Government Minister Amir Mir, ACS, Planning and Development chairman, secretary finance, Secretary C&W and others.
LDA to rehabilitate Ferozepur Road
In order to improve the traffic flow along the metro bus track, Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has prepared a plan for the rehabilitation of Ferozepur Road from Gajjumata to Qurtaba Chowk.
The plan was made on the instructions of caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi. Due to the construction of two mega projects on Ferozepur Road, the road was in a dilapidated condition due to which the traffic flow was also slow.
On the instructions of caretaker chief minister, LDA estimated Rs210 million for the rehabilitation of Ferozepur Road. Under this project, asphalt carpeting and improvement of walkways will be done on the road. The road rehabilitation work will be completed by LDA within a period of three months.
Christmas cake-cutting ceremony at LGH
Lahore General Hospital and Punjab Institute of Neurosciences held a joint ceremony on the eve of Christmas on Thursday in which 300-pound cake was cut.
Principal Ameer Uddin Medical College Prof. Al-Fareed Zafar and ED PINS Prof Asif Bashir were guests of honour while officials of Punjab Paramedical Staff Association, nursing staff and health professionals also participated in the ceremony.
The participants of Christmas ceremony offered special prayers for the country's development, stability and expressed their solidarity with Kashmiri and Palestinian brothers. Speaking at the ceremony, Prof Al-Fareed Zafar and Prof Asif Bashir said that the role of Christian brothers is wonderful in the field of health and education.
All the minorities are like a bouquet and the role of Christian community in the establishment of Pakistan is unforgettable.
