Usman Dar says police misbehaved with mother, other family members

SIALKOT: PTI leader Usman Dar on Tuesday claimed that the Sialkot Police on late Monday night raided his house near the Sialkot chamber without any search warrants and mistreated his family.
Addressing a press conference at the Sialkot district courts along with his mother Mrs Imtiazuddin Dar, Usman claimed the police broke the main gate of his house and upon inquiry misbehaved with his mother and other women and allegedly tore the clothes of his mother.
He said that in the recent past, police had raided his house to arrest him in connection with the May 9 incidents but after he was not found, they misbehaved with the family.
He said Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) leader Khawaja Asif was behind all the activity to terrorize him and his family.
He said he was present and police could arrest him if it was necessary. He appealed to police high-ups and judiciary to take notice of the injustice. He said he would strongly stand by his mother if she was intending to contest the general elections.
Kh Asif was not available for comments. However, he responded through the social media and termed all the charges of Usman Dar and his mother baseless. He said using negative tactics against his political rivals was never a part of his political training and apart from that, his family had old relations with the family of Usman Dar.
Kh Asif said he always respected other families, especially women. Usman Dar must face the law without baselessly accusing his rivals, he said.
District Police Officer (DPO), Sialkot, Hasan Iqbal, said the police raided the house to arrest Umar Dar as he was wanted in different cases.
“During the raid, the women in the house used abusive language which was inappropriate,” said the DPO, while dispelling the claims of physical assault on the women.
The DPO said that Umar Dar took “some steps against the state” after which cases were registered against him and he was in touch with his family on the social media.
