‘Christian community playing key role in uplift of country’
LAHORE: The Christian community is an important part of our society and playing a key role in the development of the country; DG Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail said this at a cake-cutting ceremony held to express solidarity with the Christian community in connection with upcoming Christmas Day at National Hockey Stadium on Friday evening.
Dr Asif Tufail cut a cake and wished merry Christmas to all Christian staffers on this occasion. He congratulated the Christian employees on this auspicious occasion. “Sports Board Punjab will continue to take appropriate measures for the welfare of Christian employees,” he added.
He appreciated Christian community for rendering valuable contributions in their respective fields. “All the members of Christian community are very patriotic and they have a significant role in the progress of the country,” he added.
All the Christian employees thanked Dr Asif Tufail for arranging and attending an impressive cake-cutting ceremony on Christmas Day.
Director Youth Affairs Rana Nadeem Anjum, Director Sports Yasmeen Akhtar and Deputy Director Ataur Rahman, APCA Directorate General of Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Unit President Fiaz Ali, Assistant Directors Kamal ud Din and Nabeel Akram were also present on this occasion.
Meanwhile, Dr Asif Tufail presided over an important online meeting regarding the registration of sports clubs.
Director Sports Yasmeen Akhtar, Director Youth Affairs Rana Nadeem Anjum and Deputy Director Ataur Rahman attended the meeting in person while all divisional, district and tehsil sports officers of Punjab participated in the meeting through video link.
All tehsil sports officers (TSOs) of the province briefed the meeting that the verification process of majority of sports clubs has been completed and verification of remaining clubs is under process.
Addressing the meeting, Dr Asif Tufail said that it is a highly encouraging sign that hundreds of new sports clubs are approaching TSOs to get themselves registered with Sports Board Punjab. All the TSOs have been directed to continue the application collection process from the aspirant clubs.
