Baltistan University wins ‘HEDR Microsoft-HEC Award, 2023’

SKARDU: University of Baltistan, Skardu, Gilgit-Baltistan, has won the HEC Data Repository Division, “HEDR Microsoft-HEC Appreciation Certificate, 2023”.

The university was also awarded the HEC Higher Education Statistics “Edustats Shield, 2023”, says a press release on Thursday.

The HEDR Appreciation Certificate & Shield was awarded by the Microsoft and HEC, Pakistan, in recognition of the excellent contributions made by the university in the development and sharing of its online university data, data science software and development of data collection portal of HEC. Under the HEDR project, HEC had trained 450 software engineers as focal persons to collect higher education data, across the country, from all 250 private and public sector universities of Pakistan.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Naeem Khan, Vice Chancellor and Javed Hussain, Deputy Registrar (Focal Person), University of Baltistan, Skardu received the award during the ‘Launching Ceremony of Imagine Cup, 2024, by Microsoft and HEC, held at HEC auditorium, Islamabad’.

Founded in 2003, Microsoft’s Imagine Cup is Pakistan’s premier student technology and innovation competition, held each year in partnership with HEC, Pakistan.

Other universities who received the appreciation certificates include, National University of Science & Technology (NUST), Islamabad; Mehran University of Engineering & Technology, Jamshoro, Sindh; Alhamd Islamic University, Quetta, Balochistan, Lahore College for Women University Lahore and University of Swabi, KP.
