Right to security

The devastating news of the Chilas passenger bus attack surfaced on December 2. The victims were ordinary people travelling from the Ghizar district of Gilgit-Baltistan to Rawalpindi. The worst one imagines when going on such a journey is that there might be an accident. No one expects to be part of a shooting that leaves at least nine dead.

The government and authorities must take immediate measures in response to this attack. It is the responsibility of those in positions of authority to guarantee the safety and security of every single Pakistani, regardless of their status. Every citizen is entitled to basic security.
