State of play

With the general elections just two months away, the political temperature is rising. Already, some parties and their leaders have begun complaining about unfair play, specifically the lack of a level playing field, including PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto and the PTI. 

These complaints are often veiled references to the alleged favouritism being shown to the PML-N by the institutions. The PPP chairman has also criticized the economic track record of the PML-N, which is akin to throwing stones while living in a glass house. Most people will likely be able to see this criticism for the self-serving political gimmick that it is. While the PTI and PPP are complaining about unfair treatment, neither of these parties objected to similar treatment meted out to the PML-N after the 2018 elections. The winds now appear to have changed course and are blowing in favour of the PML-N.
