Hard work key to success in medical field: minister

LAHORE : Punjab Caretaker Health Minister SHC&ME Prof Dr Javed Akram has said that hard work and continuous effort is the key to creating a name in the medical field, so to become a qualified and able health professional, medical students & young doctors should pay full attention and focus on their relevant education and day to day research.

“By opting this way they can serve the suffering humanity by becoming successful physicians and surgeons in their professional life. The young doctors should also go for excellence in modern technology to be in tune with the demands of the modern age,” he said while addressing the participants on the occasion of the Annual Dinner of Ameer Uddin Medical College/PGMI.

Prof Dr Javed Akram appreciated the efforts of Principal AMC/LGH Prof Al-Fareed Zafar for his professional services in the field of medicine, especially during the corona epidemic. He also appreciated the services of Prof Ayesha Shaukat for taking practical steps for awareness on breast cancer and awarded both of them with “Ministerial Award for Excellence in Healthcare”.

Provincial Health Minister Primary Healthcare Dr Jamal Nasir, Vice Chancellors Medical Universities, Principal Medical Colleges, Professors, President PMA Prof Ashraf Nizami, Dr Mian Tariq, students and young doctors were also present on this occasion.

On this occasion, Lifetime Achievement Award, Pride of Performance and medals were also distributed among the medical teachers who performed highly in their fields.

The Health Minister said that the services of Prof Ayesha Shaukat are commendable, who have served in Sir Ganga Ram, Mayo, Services hospitals and played a very prominent role in establishing ‘Breast Clinics’ for the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer in these hospitals and she also established “Breast Clinic” at Hayat Memorial Teaching Hospital.

In addition, Prof Ayesha Shaukat also promoted awareness about breast cancer among women in primary health care hospitals and organized a comprehensive program which will definitely have positive effects. Principal PGMI Prof Al-Fareed Zafar while appreciating the policy of the Punjab Government to develop the health sector and build it on a modern basis, said that the Caretaker CM Punjab Mohsin Naqvi in a short period of time has established teaching hospitals in a good manner. He has demonstrated his leadership skills by starting up-gradation of 100 hospitals across the province, including hospitals, and this project shows that Mohsin Naqvi is extremely committed to the development of the health sector and providing the best treatment facilities to the poor ones.

Prof Dr Ghiyasul Nabi Tayyab, Prof Khizar Hayat Gondal, Prof M Nazir, Prof M Moin, Prof Manazza Saeed, Prof Khalid Waheed and others said in their conversation that the young generation of Pakistan is very hardworking and capable while nature has blessed it with the best skills.

They said that Post Graduate Medical Institute has been lighting the candle of medical education for the last 5 decades and the graduates of this Institute are bringing their high skills to the attention of the developed countries and since the year, Ameer Uddin Medical College has crossed many milestones in the promotion of medical education. They said that qualified doctors who graduated from AMC will serve the country and the nation under the guidance of their senior teachers and will also increase the reputation of this medical Institute.
