SHANGLA: Expressing concern over the current economic crisis and political polarization, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Thursday said his party would not seek the help of any institution to come into power, as they had the trust and support of people.

Addressing a workers convention here, Bilawal Bhutto said they have learnt how to be of service to the downtrodden masses through elders and this was their political training. “We do not know the politics of name-calling, TikTok or Gate No 4,” he added.

Bilawal claimed he was the only politician who had been doing politics since the age of 19. “I served as the youngest foreign minister of the country for 18 months, and my hands are clean of any wrongdoing,” he said, adding, “It is extremely difficult to keep one’s hands clean in politics and mine are devoid of the stains of corruption or blood of the people.”

He said “The country is riddled with woes, be it the heightened polarisation in politics or economic crisis which keeps on worsening. In this situation, the traditional politicians are adamant on continuing the politics of hate, ego and division.”

He said: “They have made politics means of carrying out personal vendetta instead of letting it be a platform for difference of opinion. They have no interest in solving the problems of people.”

The PPP leader said the ever-increasing inflation, poverty and unemployment were the most important issues for the people, but the least for politicians. “The political parties of the country are not thinking of people or future of the country. I would like to convey to youngsters and students it is PPP that has helped the country emerge from a deep turmoil in the past,” said Bilawal. “We do not wish to look towards anyone else; we trust the people of Pakistan.” The PPP chairman added that he did not ask anyone for help but youngsters, elders, students, farmers and labourers to support the PPP and change the fate of the country.
