Huge potential for Pak IT companies in Qatar: Dr Saif
DOHA: In a bid to explore and utilise the country’s “untapped” potential in the information technology sector, the Pak-Qatar IT conference kicked off in Doha, Qatar on Sunday.
The event — jointly organised by the Pakistani Embassy, Pakistan Software Houses Association and the Pakistan Business Council of Qatar — was inaugurated by caretaker Minister for IT and Telecommunications Dr Umar Saif and features notable participation from Pakistani IT companies and local Qatari businesses as well.
Speaking at the event, the minister highlighted Pakistan’s IT capabilities to the Qatari government and business executives. He also noted that this is the first-ever visit of an IT delegation from Pakistan to Qatar to explore the huge untapped potential in the region to increase Pakistan’s IT exports.
“Earlier, the visit of the Pakistani delegation to Qatar led by Dr Saif kicked off with an event at the Pakistan embassy. The event was attended by the Pakistani diaspora in Qatar alongside 30 top IT companies from Pakistan,” the statement from the ministry read.
Separately, Dr Saif also held various meetings with Qatari businesses with an aim to establish collaborations with Pakistan’s IT companies. Taking to microblogging platform X, the minister underscored the potential for Pakistani companies to expand their business in Qatar.
