Special persons demand facilities
HANGU: The special persons on Sunday staged a rally from the Main Chowk to deputy commissioner office to highlight the issues being confronted by them and demand facilities on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) celebrated every year on December 3.
Hundreds of handicapped persons participated in the rally and demanded the government to establish a school for the physically challenged persons, impart special education and allocate quota in jobs for them in the public sector.
Speaking on the occasion, Assistant Commissioner (revenue) Amanullah and Social Welfare Officer Bilal Afridi, principal Vocational School and others said that the government was taking tangible steps for the provision of facilities to the disabled persons.
They said that the provincial government had floated an advertisement for the provision of financial assistance and ramp for disabled persons.The speakers also urged the people to vaccinate their children against the crippling poliovirus to save them from disability. The International Day of Persons with Disabilities is a UN day that is celebrated every year on the December ramp for disabled persons, which aims at promoting the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities in all spheres of society and development.
