Rain lashes Hyderabad, other parts of Sindh

HYDERABAD: Thunderstorm continued from Saturday evening to Sunday in various areas of Hyderabad and other parts of Sindh including Matiari, Dadu, Jamshoro, Thatta, Sajawal, Badin, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allahyar, Mirpurkhas, Tharparkar, Umarkot, Sanghar and Shaheed Benazirabad.

Due to the rain, the roads and streets in different areas started to present a sight of ponds.

Due to the rain, the power supply system of Hyderabad Electric Supply Company was disrupted. According to HESCO spokesperson Mohammad Sadiq, power supply was suspended at 444 feeders in different districts, which was restored after 12 hours.

On the other hand, due to the rain, water accumulated on the roads of Hyderabad city, and traffic flow was suspended due to standing water in railway crossing Latifabad and Hussainabad. Later on Sunday evening, Commissioner Hyderabad Khalid Haider Shah visited the city and the WASA pumping station, after which the district administration came into action and ensured the flow of traffic by draining the water collected on the roads

Meanwhile, the incident of lightning claimed the lives of two persons and more than a hundred goats in Tharparkar.

According to the met department, there is a possibility of more rain in Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas and Nawabshah divisions in the next 24 hours, which will further reduce the temperature.
