IG approves scheme for promotion of cops

LAHORE:Taking another revolutionary step for the career planning and welfare of the police force, Inspector General Police Punjab Dr Usman Anwar has approved the P-Cadet Scheme for departmental promotion of constables, head constables and ASIs. In this regard, IG Punjab has sent a letter to the Punjab Public Service Commission to conduct the P-cadet examination.

IG Punjab said that serving constables and head constables will be eligible to take the exam under the P-Cadet Scheme on 1,010 seats of ASIs. Similarly, in-service Head Constables and ASIs of Punjab Police will be eligible to take the exam for 438 seats of Sub-Inspectors.

Dr. Usman Anwar further said that this initiative will directly benefit 1,448 officials serving across the province including Lahore. He said that hundreds of officials could not benefit under this scheme due to the non-approval of P-Cadet examination for the past several years but now nearly 1,500 more personnel will be promoted on the basis of merit on the seats vacated by the officials who got promotion by P-Cadet examination.

WHO representative laud Rescue 1122 services

World Health Organisation (WHO) Representative in Pakistan Dr Palitha Gunarathna Mahipala appreciated the services of Rescue 1122 for showing great care to humanity and remarkable courage in medical emergencies and various other rescue operations. 'I have consistently highlighting Rescue-1122 in every country during my visit as a WHO representative.' He expressed these views during his meeting with Secretary Emergency Services Department Dr Rizwan Naseer at Emergency Services Academy on Friday.

He handed over video of ‘Integrated Emergency Services Rescue 1122 Model for South Asia” and research report on “Improving Road Safety through Emergency Response System” to Dr Rizwan Naseer at a ceremony on this occasion. This video and report has been compiled, prepared and developed by the experts of the WHO, Pakistan. Rescuers from Sindh, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and senior officers from headquarters and academy also attended the ceremony on International Day to Prevent Gender-Based Violence.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Palitha Mahipala said that Rescue 1122 Punjab model is the integrated emergency services model for South Asia and the presence of first responders and community engagements in any kind of operations is commendable which reduce the impact of injuries and contribute towards safer communities.
