Research centre inaugurated
LAHORE:Punjab University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood inaugurated the Post Graduate Research Centre of Creative Arts in Punjab University College of Art and Design (PU-CAD).
In this regard, a special ceremony was organised in which CAD Principal Dr Sumaira Jawad, Director Research Centre Prof Dr Ahmed Bilal, Chairman Graphic Design Prof Israr Chishti, and others were present. In his address, Dr Khalid Mahmood praised the research work done at the centre and said that creative research projects were being conducted here as per the need of the society.
Dr Bilal said the aim of the centre was to promote research that is beneficial to society and increase job opportunities for students. The centre offers PhD and MPhil education in the fields of arts and design, he added.
Novel’s translation launched
Punjab University’s Institute of English Studies organised the launch of the English translation of the novel ‘Aadhy Adhure Khawab’, interpreted as ‘Dreams Don’t Die’, by renowned educationist and writer Dr Shahid Siddiqui.
On the occasion, Punjab University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood, Benazir Income Support Programme Chairman Dr Amjad Saqib, Dr Shahid Siddiqui, Dean Faculty of Arts and Humanities Prof Dr Amra Raza, faculty members and students were present. The translator of the book is Assistant Professor of Allama Iqbal Open University, Dr Lubna Umar.
Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood said that it was important to promote literature to create a better society. He said that messages and ideas could be conveyed effectively through different dimensions of literature.
