Three drug peddlers handed down life imprisonment
KARACHI: A district and sessions court on Thursday handed down life imprisonment to three inter-provincial drug smugglers in a case pertaining to recovery of narcotics.
Abdul Rauf, Fida Ahmed and Dil Jan were found guilty of possessing 40 kilogrammes of hashish within the jurisdiction of the Saeedabad police station last year. The additional sessions judge-VIII (West) announced the order after recoding evidence and final arguments from both the prosecution and defence sides.
He awarded life term to the three accused and ordered them to pay Rs500,000 each as fine. In case of default on payment of the fine, they would have to undergo additional imprisonment of one year.
According to the prosecution, the suspects were involved in drug trafficking from Balochistan to Karachi. They were apprehended and 40 kilogrammes of charas with a market value of millions of rupees was seized from their possession.
